The Opportunity

Aptitude Support Ltd. is a provider of independent medical appraisals.

We are seeking a seasoned medical leader to join us as our Responsible Officer. 

In this pivotal role, you will hold statutory responsibility for the oversight of medical revalidation and the clinical performance of our doctors, ensuring we meet all requirements set by the General Medical Council (GMC). 

Key Responsibilities

Revalidation & Recommendations: Review appraisal outputs and provide timely recommendations to the GMC regarding doctors’ fitness to practise and revalidation. 


Clinical Governance: Maintain and evolve the company’s clinical governance framework, ensuring it aligns with Good Medical Practice. 


Performance Management: Oversee the investigation of concerns regarding a doctor’s conduct or performance, implementing remediation or disciplinary processes where necessary. 


Quality Assurance: Lead the quality assurance of the appraisal process, ensuring that all appraisals are robust, objective, and developmental. 


Regulatory Liaison: Act as the primary point of contact for the GMC, Higher Level Responsible Officers, and other regulatory bodies as required. 

The Ideal Candidate

Fully Registered Medical Practitioner: Must hold a current license to practise with the GMC. 


Experienced Leader: Previous experience as an RO, Deputy RO, or Medical Director is highly desirable. 


Expert Knowledge: A deep understanding of the UK medical revalidation framework and Responsible Officer Regulations is required. 


Integrity & Objectivity: Proven ability to make difficult, evidence-based decisions regarding professional standards. 


Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide constructive feedback to peers and stakeholders.
